310T Mechanic

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a fully licensed 310T mechanic to be responsible for fleet maintenance, certification, diagnosis and repair of various trucks, trailers, cranes, boom trucks and small vehicles. We offer an excellent hourly wage with a guaranteed 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform safety inspections, routine PM inspections and maintenance on vehicles/equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Complete required paperwork for ordering of parts.
  • Complete all required service documentation.
  • Perform off-site repairs on equipment when breakdowns occur.
  • Communicate effectively with Shop Manager regarding equipment status, availability and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Comply with all relevant Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Full 310T mechanic’s license
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Propane, hydraulic, electrical and heavy equipment experience an asset, but willing to train.
  • Must have own mechanic’s tools
  • Must have valid and clean driver’s license
  • Excellent communication skills (English) in both oral and written
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work overtime and/or weekends when required to complete necessary tasks

CNC Machinist Apprentice

Job Description:

We are currently seeking an individual to fill the role of full-time CNC Machinist Apprentice to assist with repairs and modifications to fleet and rental equipment and the fabrication of new equipment and fixtures.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, three-dimensional CAD drawings, charts and tables to determine correct machining operation, such as lathes and mills in order to machine or grind components to precise measurements.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Use measurement tools to accuracy of part(s).
  • Set-up and operate numerical control machines to cut, shape or form work pieces to specifications.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools to fit and assemble machined parts, including grinding and deburring of parts.
  • Perform pre-start inspections and basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Required to learn 3D design software to create basic part geometry.
  • Ensure standards for safe working conditions are followed and participate in all Company safety training programs and requirements.
  • Must be willing to register as an apprentice and attend the required educational training in order to achieve licensing and certification.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school diploma
  • Must be willing to register as an apprentice and attend required apprenticeship training
  • Must have excellent math and mechanical skills/aptitude
  • Must have the ability and desire to do precision work
  • Must be able to willing to work shifts
  • Must have clean driver’s licence and own transportation

Fleet Manager/Diesel Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Dwight Crane Ltd. is currently searching for a qualified, hands-on, Fleet Manager/Diesel Technician at its’ Ajax facility. This hands-on role will encompass all the necessary attributes of a Leader and Technician who can delegate and mentor on an ongoing basis. Our ideal candidate will be able to monitor and supervise the performance of a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled technicians in the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of trucks, trailers, cranes and aerial lift equipment.

Duties:

  • Directing the work flow and prioritizing as needed.
  • Managing and providing assistance to technician’s when needed.
  • Ensuring work is done efficiently and implementing the necessary processes and procedures to meet this requirement.
  • Developing and maintaining a team atmosphere.
  • Performing work as outlined in work orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Company standards and procedures.
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs on light and heavy fleet vehicles and off-road equipment.
  • Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts.
  • Perform functions and duties that may require additional or different tasks to be performed when circumstances dictate, i.e. emergencies, change in personnel, change in workload, rush jobs, etc.
  • Document all work performance.
  • Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Ensure quality control measures are up to date and maintained.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean, in a state of operational readiness, as well as ensure technicians follow the same requirements.
  • Work in conjunction with the Shop Manager in dealing with equipment and personnel issues.
  • Understand and adhere to all applicable federal and provincial regulations, as well as Company policies and procedures governing maintenance and repair procedures, as well as safe working practices to facilitate the smooth operation and function of an effective operation.
  • Ensure all Company health and safety policies are followed.

Job Requirements:

  • 310T Truck Mechanic’s License – this is a mandatory requirement.
  • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience working with diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment.
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ supervisory experience in a wide variety of vehicle maintenance operations including shop operations, fleet functions, servicing and repairing equipment, work load control, automated fleet maintenance systems and evaluating and reporting on employee’s job performance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and direct others, as well as provide training and guidance to staff.
  • Must have own set of general tools.
  • Must be able to work with diagnostic computers for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Must be computer proficient and able to use software for research and work order system.
  • Must be physically fit.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Positive attitude with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with management, supervisors, support staff, employees and customers. This includes the ability to work with and manage different personality types while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • Problem resolution to solve operational, technical and interpersonal issues.

  • Ability to handle sensitive personnel and data issues.
  • The ability to set goals and accomplish them.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in order to provide clear instruction to staff.
  • Flexibility with work hours, including weekends and holidays to accommodate emergency repair work and varied schedules.

Parts & Shop Administrator

We are currently seeking a full-time Parts & Shop Administrator to be responsible for a variety of functions in and relating to the Parts Dept. and to assist the Shop Manager with administrative duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow established procedures in the processing of parts requests, bills of lading, packing slips and workshop orders.
  • Allocation of parts to appropriate workshop orders.
  • Tracking of ordered parts and allocation as required.
  • Maintain paperwork flow between Technicians, Parts Dept. and Shop Manager.
  • Provide relief counter duties in Parts Dept. as required.
  • Create and maintain a variety of documents and administrative records.
  • Assist Shop Manager with Health & Safety related programs.
  • Attend and assist with Joint Health Safety Committee meetings and inspections.
  • Assist Shop Manager with administrative duties as required.
  • Comply with all relevant Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Must have solid understanding of basic automotive/truck components and parts
  • Must have experience with inventory control
  • Must be proficient in various computer programs, including Excel, Outlook and Internet
  • Must have solid administrative/office skills, i.e. excellent typing skills, filing, use of standard office equipment
  • Must be highly organized and able to multi-task on a regular basis
  • Must have knowledge and experience with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS and MSDS
  • Must have valid and clean ‘G’ driver’s license
  • Excellent communication skills (English) in both oral and written
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work overtime and/or weekends when required to complete necessary tasks
  • Must be comfortable in a shop environment; must supply own safety boots

AZ Float Driver

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking an individual to fill the role of AZ Float Driver to transport aerial lift equipment (scissor lifts and zoom booms). This position is full-time, with a guaranteed 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily vehicle inspection of truck as required by law and complete the required paperwork prior to leaving the yard.
  • Load and unload equipment.
  • Secure all loads as required by law using chains/binders and straps.
  • Perform basic maintenance on truck/trailer, i.e. greasing, inspection of chains, etc.
  • Report any defects or concerns regarding truck/trailer and rental equipment to Shop Manager.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Work well independently, as well as in a team environment with other drivers and dispatchers.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Maintain safety as the priority of all tasks.

Requirements:

  • AZ Class Driver’s License
  • Clean abstract
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the GTA
  • Prefer candidate that lives locally
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must be physically fit
  • Willing to perform various duties in shop environment when driving schedules slow down.

Welder/Fabricator

We are currently seeking a top-notch Fabricator to perform a variety of work from repairs to our rental and fleet equipment to fabrication of equipment accessories, replacement parts, prototype designs and SPFX projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprint, 3D CAD drawings and welding process specifications.
  • Set up machines and equipment
  • Operate grinding and sanding equipment
  • Operate various cutting equipment, including bandsaw
  • Operate metal shaping, straightening and bending machines, such as hand brake, press brake and shears.
  • Complete required paperwork for ordering of parts and record-keeping.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Comply with all relevant Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in GTAW, GMAW, FAW, PAW, SMAW, TIG and MIG
  • Must be proficient in TIG aluminum processes
  • AutoCAD or Solid Works experience a definite asset
  • CWB certification an asset
  • Must have valid and clean driver’s license
  • Excellent communication skills (English) in both oral and written
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be willing to work shifts
  • Able to work overtime and/or weekends when required to complete necessary tasks
